Nyon-Région tourism

The region of “La Côte” offers a rich diversity of landscapes – from the huge expanse forming Lake Geneva to the white peaks of the Jura, and from vineyards as far as the eye can see to undulating meadows. Shaking off its immaculate winter coat, in summer the panorama is decked out in opalescent green, turning to red in autumn. How delightful it is to wander along the narrow lanes of Nyon’s old town, to lose oneself in the numerous villages scattered along the hillsides, or to hurtle down the snowy ski-runs of the La Dôle massif.

When it’s time for a break, those with the heartiest appetites will be unable to resist a session of cheese- or chocolate-tasting. And the most discerning of palates will be satisfied in the various restaurants to be found in the region. There are menus to cater for every taste bud: whether gourmet, exotic or featuring lake-caught fish. Every meal is, of course, accompanied by a glass of wine originating from the local vineyards.

Apart from sport and local produce, the region is also a Mecca for lovers of culture. The choice is huge, ranging from music festivals to castles and various museums. When you’re overcome by fatigue after all these land-based pleasures, let yourself simply be rocked by the waves on Lake Geneva, whether in a pedalo, on a sailboard or in one of the “Belle Epoque” boats. And as a perfect way to round off a beautiful day, there’s nothing better than idling on one of the beaches that line the lake …
