Ensemble Les Ramages

Created by Véronique Jamain, the ensemble Les Ramages is formed by artists who met in Geneva.

The ensemble proposes an interpretation on historical instruments of chamber music works know and unknown. Through original programmes and historical and musicological research, one of the objectives is to make known and rediscover new pieces.

Véronique Jamain, traverso

After starting playing the flute in Annecy, Véronique Jamain entered the “Conservatoire de Musique” in Geneva where she studied in the class of Maxence Larrieu and obtained a virtuosity music prize in 1980.

Interested by ancient instruments, she then worked with Serge Saïtta, and Barthold Kuijken. She obtained a master of ancient flute in the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Bruxelles in 2005. She is now teaching at the “Conservatoire de Musique” in Geneva.

She launched the ensemble « Les Ramages » and she regularly plays together with other ensembles of ancient music (Musica Poetica, l’Ensemble Baroque du Léman, Gli Angeli Genève, Swiss Consort, Capella Mediterranea, La Nouvelle Ménestrandie, Capella Lugdunum, Le siècle des Lumières, Ensemble vocal et instrumental de Lausanne, Les Temps Présents…).

Under the direction of Tibor Varga, Barthold and Wieland Kuijken, Stéphan Mac Leod or Michel Corboz, Olivier Schnebeeli (CMBV), she played in the context of music festivals such as Festival Bach of Saint Donat, Fêtes Musicales in Savoie, Festival de Cordon, Festival des Bauges, Vochora (Drôme-Ardèche), La Traverse (Le Bourget du Lac), Les Estivales (Ferney-Voltaire), The 24 hours of ancient music (Annecy), the Concerts of Comptoir de l’Opéra (Lyon), in Chateaurouge (Annemasse), in La Grange au Lac (Evian), the concerts Bach de Lutry, the Concerts of Romainmôtier, the Sunday Concerts at Victoria Hall (Genève), the Concerts of Saint-Pierre Cathedral (Genève), The Bach cantatas (Genève), the Schubertiades- Espace 2, at the Théâtre Crochetan (Monthey), the Opera of Lausanne, Festival of Sacred Music in Maastricht, Festival of Ostende (Belgium), international Festival of sacred music in Fribourg (CH), Rencontres d’art vocal of Noirlac, Festival of Baroque in Pays of Mont- Blanc, the Opera Grand Avignon, the Royal Opera of Versailles…

Lionel Desmeules, harpsichord

Lionel Desmeules plays diverse instruments like organ, harpsichord, violin, accordeon and singing. He therefore masterc many repertoires like chamber music, motet, polyphony and plainchant. He was formed by François Delor and Vincent Thévenaz at the organ, Alfonso Fedi at the harpsichord. He also studied accompaniment and conducting with Léonardo García Alarcón. He has played with diverse ensembles like Lucidarium, Clématis, le Chœur de Chambre de Namur or Il seminario musicale, Ex Corde and Les Chantres du Thoronet. In 2007, in the intimate “Chapelle du Doubs”, he has founded the ensemble Vox turturis. In 2011, he was the assistant of Léonardo García Alarcón at the Aix-En-Provence festival.

Constance Larrieu, comedian

Constance Larrieu is an actress, stage director and musician (playing the modern and baroque violin). She studied at the Regional School of Actors in Cannes, France (ERAC) and worked with Ludovic Lagarde, Laurent Poitrenaux, Valérie Dréville, Catherine Marnas, Didier Galas, Youri Pogrebnitchko, Charlotte Clamens, Philippe Demarle et Richard Dubelski among others.

After finishing her formation in this school, she produced and directed a rhythmic and acoustic version of “Manque” from Sarah Kane and presented it in Marseille and Paris. Then, she played in “Calderon” from Pasolini, produced by Clara Chabalier (Young Talent prize of Paris) and was subsequently hired by Ludovic Lagarde to play in “Un nid pour quoi faire?”  from Olivier Cadiot and to integrate the permanent troup of the Artistic Comity of the Reims Comedy for the 2009/2010 and 2011/2012 seasons.

She played under the direction of Emilie Rousset in “La Terreur du Boomerang” from Anne Kawala, in “Manque” from Sarah Kane, directed by Simon Delétang, in “Le Bouc” and “Preparadise Sorry Now” from Fassbinder, directed by Guillaume Vincent.

In 2011, she worked with Jean-Philippe Vidal to create “Maman, et moi et les hommes” from Lygre.She also played in “Burn out” from Alexandra Badea directed by Jonathan Michel, as well as in the Büchner trilogy: “La mort de Danton”, “Léonce et Léna” and “Woyzeck”, directed by Ludovic Lagarde.

In 2012, she produced and directed “Canons” from Patrick Bouvet with the compositor Richard Dubelski, and “Ripostes”, a concert-show for the general audience around French baroque compositors and texts from Molière with the ensemble “Les Ramages”.

She then participated to “Mars-Watchers”, created by Emilie Rousset and Anne Kawala in collaboration with IRCAM and the 104, and played in “Galla Placidia”, a contemporary opera written by Antonin Servière, directed by Jean de Pange, and played at the Arcal and at the Royaumont Foundation in Decembre 2012.

This season, she will direct a project around the opera “Les Indes Galantes” from Rameau with Les Paladins, and will then play in “Un film événement”, a full length movie produced by César Vayssié

She collaborates as a stage director with several structures and musical ensembles: Les Ramages, direction Véronique Jamain, Richard Dubelski: Corps à sons company, Les Paladins direction Jérôme Correas,the Saint-Ouen Conservatory for a recital-show around feminine characters in the lyric repertory with the singers Dima Bawab, Pauline Sikirdji and the pianist François Sikirdji, and very soon the Czech Ensemble Baroque Orchestra direction Roman Valek in order to direct Platée by Rameau for the summer festival.

Ludovic Perez, comedian

formed at the conservatory of Poitiers, comedian Ludovic Perez was previously formed by Jean-Pierre Berthomier, director of the company “Les Agités”. Together they create “Atteintes à sa vie” of martin Crimp.

During this period, diverse groups of young artists punctuate his itinerary (“la toupie” and “la tarte aux plumes”), participating to popular projects and “all-terrains”.

Then, the ERAC (Ecole Régionale d’Acteurs de Cannes) opens him a new horizon, working there between 2005 and 2008 with Youri Pogrebnichko, Ludovic Lagarde, Catherine Marnas, Valérie Dréville, Charlotte Clamens, Laurent Poitrenaux…

In his promotion, he meets Constance Larrieu who then directs him after finishing his studies, in “Manque” from Sarah Kane (première at the theater “Friche belle de mai” of Marseille, and played in Paris in 2009). In this surrounding he also plays in Calderon de Pasolini, directed by Clara Chabalier, one other student of his promotion.

Lately, he has played in the show for young public: “Ricky Pompon”, directed by Bertrant Bossard, played on several national stages, among them the Chaillot Theater in Paris. He has also been working for 3 years with marie Claude Morland, director of the “compagnie du Trèfle” in Poitiers.

Together, they have created two plays of Musset, “Le Chandelier” and “Les Caprices de Marianne”, often played outside in diverses patrimonial sites of the Poitou Charente region.

One more contemporary project is being created in the Trèfle company: the dramatist Frédéric Vossier is writing now for the same actors for his next play: “Prairies”.
