Jean-Louis Beaumadier, piccolo
Jean-Louis Beaumadier began his flute studies with Joseph Rampal at the Marseille Conservatory and continued at the National Superior Conservatory with Jean-Pierre Rampal. Prize winner of the Geneva International Competition, and the French Guild of Solo Artists and soloist of the National Orchestra of France for 12 years, due to his abundant discography (Grand Prix of the Charles Cros Academy), his concerts in Europe, in the United States and the Far East, and his collection for piccolo with Billaudot Editions, he became one of the very first representatives of the piccolo in the world.
His keen interest in the piccolo and woodwind instruments comes from his very early years when his family bought him a magnificent ancient ‘Bonneville’ piccolo in ebony. Many years ago he began to study the piccolo in depth to make it further known and to share the joy with others playing it. At the beginning, piccolo at the Concerts Colonne then for 12 years, piccolo solo at the national Orchestra of France, he played under the direction of prestigious conductors: Sergiù Celibidache, Karl Böhm, Leonard Bernstein, Lorin Maazel, Seiji Ozawa, Wolfgang Sawalich, Pierre Boulez… and with other orchestras such as the Saïto Kinen Orchestra with Seiji Ozawa.
