Michel Bellavance, flute
Miyazawa artist, the Candian-Swiss flautist, Michel Bellavance, has been soloist of concertos of Nielsen, Ibert, Reinecke, Bernstein, Kabalevski, Liebermann, Mozart, Bach and Vivaldi, amongst others, with orchestras in Europe and in South America, including the Orchestra of the Gulbenkian Foundation of Lisbon, l’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, the National Symphony Orchestra of Peru, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Mendoza and the Symphonic Orchestra of Maracaibo.
Michel Bellavance has performed at flute festivals in Switzerland, the United States, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Chili, Colombia and Ecuador for radio programmes of the SRC, La Radio Suisse Romande and the National Public Radio and has given recitals in cities such as Prague, Barcelona, Geneva, Madrid, Basle, London, Zurich, Paris, Montreal, Ottawa, Washington DC, New York (Carnegie Hall), Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Lima, Sao Paolo, Brasilia, Buenos Aires and Bogota. His recordings for Meridian Records, Atma Classique, Brioso Recordings and SNE have been internationally acclaimed and represents his real interest for new repertory and for little-known works. Parallel to his activities as a performer, Michel Bellavance is Professor of flute at the Music School (HEM) of Geneva and he regularly gives masterclasses in Europe, Asia and Latin America, notably at the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, the Conservatories of Beijing and Shanghai, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, as well as at International Flute Festivals of San Jose and Lima.
