PentaGônes, sextuor de flûtes traversières

Website

Pentagones is an exceptional ensemble which, for the last 15 years, has been universally acclaimed for its musicality, clarity and enthusiasm.  These six flutists, united by their love for all things flute, offer in this second CD classic, traditional, contemporary and humorous repetoire entirely composed or arranged by members of the group.

From its beginnings in 1998 up to the present, this group has been a kind of adventure. To create, arrange and develop a new repertoire for an ensemble with no precedent in the history of music – this is the aim of PentaGônes. It is a laboratory where each member not only plays, but also has the opportunity to research, compose and transcribe.

The original repertoire is arranged and especially composed by the group. PentaGônes makes use of the whole family of flutes: from piccolo to contrabass flute.

All members of PentaGônes are originally from the region of Lyon (Gône means child in old dialect of Lyon). They studied here and they still work here. They are professors at various Nationals Conservatories in Lyon, Geneva and surroundings. They are teachers training advisors, flutists in various music orchestras, chamber groups, jazz and salsa.
