Riccardo Ghiani, flute
Riccardo Ghiani is the solo flutist of the orchestra of the “Fondatione Teatro Lirico di Cagliari”. A native of Cagliari, he was born in 1961 and made his studies in the conservatory of his city, in the class of Salvatore Saddi. He obtained his diploma in 1984 with the unanimous appraisals of the jury. He then pursued his formation with Raymond Guiot in the Conservatory H. Berlioz of Paris, and obtained the first prize of the city of Paris in 1986. He also got a first virtuosity prize in 1998, first named, in the class of Maxence Larrieu.
He has taken many masterclasses with Alain Marion, Robert Dick, for the flute, Bruno Canino and Maurice Bourgue for chamber music. Along with his position as solo flute, he has been invited by numerous italian and european orchestras, among other the “Orchestra della Toscana”, the “Ensemble Instrumental d’Ile de France”, the “Konzerthaus Orchestre of Berlin”.
With his orchestra, he has played with many conductors: Gérard Korsten, Lorin Maazel, Carlo Maria Giulini, Pinchas Steinberg, Roberto Abbado, Emmanuel Krivine, Ton Koopman, etc.
He has tought at the Conservatories of Cagliari, Sassari, Region Calabria and Palermo. From 1996 to 2001, he was the assistant of Aurèle Nicolet at the Académie d’été d’Hyar (Croatia).

He is the representative of Guo flutes (Taiwan) and Uesawa flutes (Germany).
Riccardo Ghiani is one of the founding members of the Ensemble Hoffmansthal, and co-artistic director of the festival “le piace Richard Strauss!”, in collaboration with the Institute Richard Strauss of Garmisch Partenkirchen.
Francesca Carta, piano
Francesca Carta was born in Cagliari in Sardinia, and started her muscial studies in her city, with a piano diploma in 1985 with Rosabianca Rachel. She has studied at the “Université Musicale International” of Paris, with Roger Murano, at the Academy of high performance Lorenzo Perosi, with Aldo Ciccolini.
She is regularly invited since many years as accompanying pianist for masterclasses and international courses, in Italy, Austria, Romania, Croatia, Switzerland, etc.
She is also an active concert pianist and has played at numerous festival throughout Europe. She has collaborated with many soloists, including Aurèle Nicole, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Maxence Larrieu, Alain Marion, Emmanuel Pahud, Bruno Pasques, Silvia Careddu, Pierre-Yves Artaud, Shigenori Kudo, etc..
She has recorded Cds under labels of “L’Académie Musicale Villecroze”, Riverberi Sonori, Traversières.
She has tought at the conservatory L. Canepa di Sassari and is now at the conservatory GP da Palestrina in Cagliari. She has worked as “Maestro collaboratore” at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, and is tutor of the “Hochschule für Musik” in Zürich. She was also a teacher at the “Accademia Italiana del Flauto” in Rome and was from 1993 to 2002 accompanist at the “Conservatoire National de Paris” for the class of Pierre-Yves Artaud. And she has collaborated with many Conservatories throughout Europe.
