Matthias Ziegler

Flutes

Innovative flute player Matthias Ziegler plays traditional repertoire, contemporary music and develops concepts that cross the frontiers between classical and jazz.

He is a member of Collegium Novum Zurich. Concert tours have taken him across all the continents and he has made numerous recordings. Matthias Ziegler teaches at the High School of the Arts in Zurich.

He has developed the potential of the traditional flute and the contrabass flute through amplification. Several composers have written for him.

Matthias Ziegler plays on a Louis Lot flute (1880), a quarter tone flute, and alto and bass flutes made by Eva Kingma. His contrabass flute is made by Kotato Fukushima.
