Ivan Denes is a professional flautist based in Zurich, Switzerland where he works as a performer and teacher. His repertoire is centred in classical music and includes contemporary music and Latin American traditional and modern music.

With dual citizenship (Bolivian and Swiss), Denes grew up in La Paz, Bolivia where he started playing music at 6 years old and started flute studies at 9. In 2009, he received a Bachelor in Music from the National Music Conservatory in La Paz. His principal teachers were Hiraku Iida and José Antonio Bravo.

In 2010, Denes moved to Switzerland. He graduated in Summer 2014 on the MA in Music and Transdisziplinarity at the ZHdK (Zürich Arts University), where Matthias Ziegler and Patrick Müller are his principal mentors. He is starting a Masters in Music and Musipedagogy in the Autumm 2015.

Denes’ current projects include musical works with chamber music ensembles, concerts, inter-and transdisciplinary works with different artists and pedagogic projects (such as the Flute Convention in Bolivia). He has worked in orchestras, chamber music and as a soloist with the National Symphonic Orchestra.

Denes’ experience as a flute teacher started in 2005 as a volunteer and 2007 as a privat teacher. Presently, he teaches privately in the region Zurich.
