Masterclass

traverso

Saturday, October 4, 2014 – 9:00 am – 12:00 – Moulin En Clarens

The masterclass aims a public of professional and pre-professional flutists. The participants can play the modern or the baroque flute. The goal is to work on the repertoire of the 18th century, with a particular attention on articulation, phrasing, and rhetorical aspects.

Among these elements, a particular focus will be done on articulation as described by Quantz and Tromlitz. The metric hierarchy in the musical phrasing, the importance of the clarity in the phrasing and the means to reach this will be developped. We will also speak about the historical sources that can guide us for the interpretation of Mozart and his contemporaries.

Tha participants are required to bring preferably german repertoire of the school of Berlin and Bach’s family. A pre-classical repertoire (Wendling, Stamitz, etc) is also welcome.
