Winner of the harp competition, name in June 2016

Born in Geneva, Sébastian Jacot studied at the Conservatoire Supérieur of Geneva in the class of M. Jacques Zoon and obtained his Masters degree as soloist and in teaching in 2010. Although he was only 18, he was appointed assistant first flute in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, a post where he remained for two years. He then returned to Europe and played in orchestras such as the Mozart Orchestra under the direction of Claudio Abbado, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Stockholm Radio Orchestra, the Berlin Konzerthaus, and the Chamber Orchestra of Munich.

Sébastian is also first flute of the Saito Kinen Festival since 2008 under the direction of Seiji Osawa, Daniel Harding, Diego Matheuz and Fabio Luisi amongst others, and since 2011 he is solo flautist of the Ensemble Contrechamps of Geneva. Recently, Sébastian won first prize of the Kobe International Flute Competition (2013) and the Carl Nielsen International Competition the following year. As of next season he will be principal flautist of the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig.
